Hillary Clinton Tells Iowa Campaign Rally "I Am in Favor of Abortion"

Des Moines, IA (LifeNews.com) -- At a campaign stop in Iowa, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told an audience that she favors abortion. Clinton meant her comments to come across in the same moderate tone former President Bill Clinton, but the way she phrased her position could come back to haunt her.

Abortion advocates frequently insist they don't support abortions but want to keep them legal as an option for women.

Clinton, like other pro-abortion politicians, has used the "safe, legal and rare" mantra as a way to tone down their stridently pro-abortion views and voting records against bans on partial-birth abortions or tax-funded abortions.

Normally politicians say "abortions should be safe, legal and rare" but don't talk about their own position supporting or opposing them. Clinton changed and went a different direction.

“I am in favor of abortion being safe, legal and rare,” she said.

As if noticing that she told the audience she favored abortion, she quickly added, “I would do everything to make it as rare as possible.”

But, MSNBC's Tucker Carlson in November questioned whether that was really the case.

"Has she ever suggested placing any restriction of any kind on abortion, limiting for instance abortion for sex selection? Or any restriction, of any kind. Ever? I must have missed it. Has she?" Tucker asked.

Last month, Clinton largely avoided a question of how abortion is hurting social security. A woman in the audience said abortion is going to make it harder to keep the system afloat.

She simply said she has worked to keep abortion "safe, legal, rare."

She finished last - couldn't be sweeter from my perspective!
